Establishment:
The College of Applied Medical Sciences is one of the medical colleges in Arar. It was established after the Royal Decree establishing the Northern Border University in 1428 AH. The college was established by Royal Decree No. 10093/M dated 11/21/1428 AH and the decision of the Council of the Ministry of Education No. 20/46/1428, session 46 dated 6/2/1428 AH for male and female students in the city of Arar.
Introduction to the college:
The College of Applied Medical Sciences seeks to be among the best colleges of applied medical sciences in the Kingdom in qualifying and training graduates with knowledge and skills to enable them to perform clinical services as well as conduct scientific research at the highest level to serve the community and improve health services in the Northern Borders region. These goals are served by a distinguished administrative structure and academic staff in addition to various committees and units to serve the students and the community.
The college offers several undergraduate programs in each department at the undergraduate level for male and female students in the city of Arar.

The ultimate goal is to enhance healthcare services in the Northern Borders region and benefit the community. A proficient administrative setup upholds this vision, qualified academic staff, as well as various committees and units focused on student and community welfare.
The college offers a range of undergraduate programs across its departments, enabling male and female students in Arar to pursue education in applied medical sciences. The college's study duration is four years, which is the time the student studies there. The nature of the study is theoretical and applied (practical and clinical practices). After that, the student spends a full year of mandatory clinical training (internship period) in the medical departments of advanced hospitals in the region and various parts of the Kingdom, where he applies what he learned during his studies and benefits from the experience of those who preceded him in the work. The college graduates are specialists who work in the Ministry of Health or government hospitals affiliated with Saudi universities, military hospitals, and private hospitals and centers in medical laboratory technology and clinical nutrition. The college graduate can also work in research centers and bodies concerned with specifications and standards, such as the Food and Drug Authority.
Academic departments in the college:
The college includes four academic departments:
• Department of Medical Laboratory Technology, which grants a bachelor's degree in the Medical Laboratory Technology program, as well as a bachelor's degree in the Medical Laboratory Technology program - bridging for diploma holders who are graduates of health colleges and institutes of the Ministry of Health.
• Department of Clinical Nutrition, which grants a bachelor's degree in the Clinical Nutrition program and a bachelor's degree in the Occupational Health and Safety program.
• Department of Diagnostic Radiology Technology (not yet activated)
• Department of Physiotherapy, which grants a bachelor's degree in the Occupational Therapy program.
- Academic programs:
The Department of Medical Laboratory Technology offers a medical laboratory technology program for male and female students, and the Department of Medical Laboratory Technology offers a bridging program for male and female students for diploma holders in medical laboratories who are graduates of health colleges, institutes of the Ministry of Health, and private academic institutes.
The Community Health Department offers a clinical nutrition program for female students only and an occupational health and safety program for male students only.
The Rehabilitation Department offers an occupational therapy program for female students only.
